Inna Tchoukina, MD, joined VCU Pauley Heart Center in 2014 as an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine, specializing in Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiovascular Disease. Originally from Russia, she earned her medical degree with Honors from the Ural State Medical Academy in 1996. Dr. Tchoukina completed her Residency in Russia, followed by Residency in Internal Medicine and Fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at State University of New York at Syracuse, NY. Following that, she was a clinical cardiologist at Southern Virginia Regional Medical Center, Emporia, VA, providing wide spectrum of cardiovascular services to the people of Southern Virginia. With over 7 years of clinical experience, Dr. Tchoukina pursued further Fellowship training in the specialty of Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant at Virginia Commonwealth University.
As a Heart Failure Cardiologist, Dr. Tchoukina is interested in treatment of patients in advanced stages of heart disease, patients requiring mechanical circulatory support such as left ventricular assist device or total artificial heart, and patients with heart transplant, both in inpatient and outpatient settings. She performs hemodynamic heart catheterizations and heart biopsies.
Dr. Tchoukina enjoys sharing her knowledge and experience with students, residents and fellows, and is involved in clinical investigations of heart failure management and mechanical circulatory support devices.
Dr. Tchoukina is a Fellow of American College of Cardiology and a member of the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation. She is board certified in Cardiovascular Disease, Internal Medicine and Nuclear Cardiology.
