Gea-Ny Tseng, PhD

Dr. Gea-Ny Tseng, Professor of Physiology and Cardiology, received her PhD in Pharmacology from Columbia University in 1985. After completing postdoctoral training in 1988, she became a faculty member in the Department of Pharmacology, Columbia University. Dr. Tseng joined the faculty of Virginia Commonwealth University in 1999.
Dr. Tseng’s research is focused on potassium (K) channels in cardiac myocytes. She has received significant funding from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health and the American Heart Association for over ten years.
Dr. Tseng is a reviewer for more than a dozen scientific journals, including Circulation, the Journal of Physiology, Journal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology and Journal of Biological Chemistry. To date, she has authored and published more than 50 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals, as well as 62 abstracts and a dozen book chapters and reviews. She has also chaired a number of scientific sessions at national and international meetings and made numerous presentations and invited lectures at universities and medical schools around the world.
Dr. Tseng is a member of the American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, the Basic Council of Cardiovascular Research/American Heart Association, the Biophysical Society, the American Society of Physiology, the International Society for Heart Research, the International Society for Stem Cell Research, the American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology.
